Saeed Ajmal has performed against every cricket playing country and players from all parts of the world have failed to tame his bowling. He has troubled Australia’s strong batting lineup, while English batsmen have no answer to Ajmal’s bowling. He hasn’t played much against our arch-rival India; he has only played 1 one-day International (ODI), which was the semi-final of ICC Cricket World Cup, 2011.

ODI performance against India

Saeed Ajmal has yet to play a test match against India; so far he has played five one-day internationals (ODIs) against them.

1st ODI against India

The first match he played against India was also his career’s first ODI. It was the 2008 Asia Cup match at National Stadium, Karachi.  He managed to get one wicket when he showed Yousuf Pathan the way to the pavilion with his magical delivery “doosra”.  Pakistan won that match by eight wickets after chasing a target of 309 runs and finishing in the 46th over.

2nd ODI against India

The second ODI was in 2009 ICC Champions Trophy at Super Sport Park, Centurion. Ajmal took two wickets for 31 runs. He bagged Suresh Raina’s wicket with an almost yorker type delivery and then took the final wicket of Harbhajan Singh to ease Pakistan’s way to victory. The green shirts won that match by 54 runs. Earlier in the match Ajmal also came to bat but remain unbeaten on naught.

3rd ODI against India

In his third match against India in 2010 Asia Cup at Dambulla, he managed to send three Indian batsmen to the pavilion but Pakistan lost that nail biting encounter by three wickets in the final over. Ajmal took his first wicket of the match when he clean bowled Virat Kohli as the bowl was full and Kohli played when he was trying to cut the ball. He then bowled out Gautam Gambhir who was the top scorer of match with 83 runs. For his third wicket of the match he once again clean bowled Ravindrasinh Anirudhsinh Jadeja.

4th ODI against India

His fourth ODI was the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup semi-final, which India won by 29 runs.  Ajmal took the crucial wicket of Sachin Tendulkar who was dropped four times before falling victim to Saeed Ajmal. He also took the wicket of Harbhajan Singh; Kamran Akmal stumped Harbhajan Singh when he missed doosra. Ajmal remained unbeaten at the score of one during Pakistan’s batting.
